Custom made silks
Arashi shibori:
These textured scarves are made by an
ancient hand-craft known as "Arashi shibori". This is
folding and pleating silk by tying it around a pole to produce a
texture. This is done wholly by hand, each pleat made by a turn of
twine. Wendy uses no machines of any sort to tie. Each scarf takes two
days to complete. The process of producing this type of textured fabric
involves several layers of dying, folding, tying, over-dying, steaming
and drying.
Unique custom art work:
Each piece of work is entirely unique from start to finish. They are never repeated and stand as one-of-a-kind pieces of art.Wendy is able, because of the way she produces one piece at a time, to custom dye pieces to a customer’s taste or color choice.
Wendy enjoys working with color blends and combinations, but keep in mind that she does not attempt to ‘color match’, and although she works around a color choice will not guarantee absolute color matches - be ready for surprises and something of the unexpected!!
